2008 Tarheel Tour Tentative Schedule    1

Charlotte, N.C. – The Charlotte-based Tarheel Tour has released a tentative schedule for the 2008 season. Now in its seventh year, the Tour will begin the 2008 season in Charleston, SC at Patriots Point Links and RiverTowne Country Club, site of the LPGA Tour's Ginn Tribute Hosted by ANNIKA. This marks the third consecutive year in which the Tarheel Tour will kickoff its season in the South Carolina lowcountry.

The Tarheel Tour will break new ground in 2008 with three events in the state of Virginia, one year after the Tour held its first tournament outside the Carolinas. The first of the three tournaments will be held at the highly acclaimed Manor Golf Club and Resort in Farmville. The Manor received national recognition by Golf Digest with a selection to their list of “America's Best New Courses of 2007.” Spring Creek Golf Club in Gordonsville, which received the Golf Digest honor for “Best New Course Under $75,” will return for its second year on the schedule with the Spring Creek Classic. The Tour's final stop in Virginia will be at The Pete Dye River Course at Virginia Tech, a 7,600-yard masterpiece which plays alongside the majestic New River. Dye is the genius behind courses such as TPC Sawgrass, Harbour Town, PGA West, and Whistling Straits, and has certainly lived up to his reputation in Blacksburg. Not to be outdone by The Manor and Spring Creek, The River Course received Golf Digest's award for “Best Re-Design” in 2006.

The Tarheel Tour will continue to play some of the best golf courses in the greater Charlotte area in 2008, including Firethorne Country Club, The NorthStone Club, Cabarrus Country Club, and the newly redesigned River Run Golf & Country Club, which is expected to re-open to rave reviews next month. A new addition to the rotation in 2008 is River Hills Country Club, which sits on beautiful Lake Wylie in South Carolina. River Hills is a narrow Willard Byrd design which demands attention in all facets of the game and sits a mere 20 minutes from downtown Charlotte.

The Tarheel Tour will host 21 events in 2008 and will once again set the standard for championship venues in developmental tour golf. Please check the website for updates on the completion of the 2008 Tarheel Tour schedule.
