CHARLOTTE, N.C. – March 3, 2009 – Nearly two weeks after announcing an exemption into the Nationwide Tour's BMW Charity Pro-Am, the eGolf Tarheel Tour announced today that they have been granted a second unrestricted exemption by South Carolina Charities, Inc. for the tournament. "We are obviously elated to receive a second exemption to this prestigious event," said eGolf Tarheel Tour President David Siegel. "We have always projected the idea that it pays to be a member of our tour and hopefully this reinforces that thought." The exemption will be tied into the Bushnell Championship on April 8-10 in the greater Pinehurst, NC area and will go to an eGolf Tarheel Tour member. More details on the structure of the exemption and how members can attain it will be released shortly. "The majority of our players spend their Mondays chasing qualifiers on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour," said Siegel. "It helps us to help them by offering two spots in the BMW Charity Pro-Am – an event for which there is no Monday qualifier." The first exemption, which was granted on February 18th, will go to the member who accrues the most earnings in the tour's first four 54-hole events: the FairwayStyles.com Open (March 11-13), the Pine Needles Classic (March 18-20), the Bushnell Championship (April 8-10) and the Snap Fitness Open (April 29-May 1). Should the same player earn both exemptions, the member finishing second on the four-event money list will be awarded the spot. The BMW Charity Pro-Am will be contested at the Thornblade Club (Greer, SC), Bright's Creek Golf Club (Mill Spring, NC) and The Carolina Country Club (Spartanburg, SC) on May 14-17, with the final round being held at Thornblade on Sunday, May 17th. All four rounds will be televised by Golf Channel. The 2009 Egolf Tarheel Tour season will begin with the FairwayStyles.com Open on March 11-13 in the greater Hilton Head Island, SC area at Oldfield Country Club and Tradition National Golf Club. Spots are still available for this event. Please visit the tour's entry page to sign up. |
