Big Break Tryouts to return to Tarheel Tour in 2008

Farmville, VA- The Golf Channel's Big Break Series will conduct tryouts for the upcoming Big Break at the Tarheel Tour's Manor Classic at The Manor Golf Club in Farmville, Virginia. This is the second consecutive year in which the Tarheel Tour will host tryouts for the Big Break Series. The tryouts will be conducted on April 8th during the official practice round for the Manor Classic, which begins on April 9th.

Several Tarheel Tour players have had previous success in making the Big Break Series, including current PGA Tour member Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey. Gainey, from Bishopville, South Carolina, competed in the second Big Break Series at Carnoustie in Scotland and was subsequently invited to compete in The Big Break VII Reunion, where he was victorious over several former Big Break competitors. The victory earned Gainey a spot in the Nationwide Tour's Cox Classic, where he finished in a tie for eighth. Other Tarheel Tour players who have competed on the Big Break Series include Matt Vick, Kevin Taylor, James Nitties and Matt Every. Every parlayed his Big Break experience into a runner up finish at the Nationwide Tour's Mexico Open while Nitties finished in the top-5 at the European Tour’s Australian Open.
