Bare Records Top-20 Finish in PGA Tour's Wyndham Championship

Tarheel Tour member Andy Bare finished a memorable week in Greensboro with his first top-20 finish on the PGA Tour. Bare recovered from a shaky start Sunday, birdying five of his final six holes to shoot a 2-under par 70, finishing the Wyndham Championship at 14-under par. The round left him tied for 20th and earned the UNC-Greensboro alumnus just over $52,000. It was Bare's first made cut on the PGA Tour in only his second start. He also participated in the 2006 U.S. Open at Winged Foot.

Bare is currently third on the Tarheel Tour Money list and was able to push his total earnings for 2007 over the $100,000 mark with his finish, but just as important is the confidence he gained this week, “I've had a lot of people say this is where I belong and where I should be playing. It probably hasn't sunk in yet, but I think I proved to myself that I can play with these guys, definitely.” Bare will take this week off to get ready for the Northstone Open, in Huntersville, NC, August 29-31.
