Charlotte, N.C. – The 2008 EGOLF Tarheel Tour season will conclude this week at the EGOLF Tarheel Tour Championship in Gordonsville, VA and Wintergreen, VA as the field competes for their share of the $200,000 purse and the first-place check of $34,000.

The tour is making its second trip of the 2008 season to Spring Creek Golf Club in Gordonsville after the Ed Carton-designed course hosted the Spring Creek Classic in June. Players have raved about the lush conditioning of the Spring Creek course, which was awarded Golf Digest’s “Best New Course Under $75” in 2007.

The tour will make it’s maiden voyage to the Stoney Creek Golf Club at Wintergreen Resort in Wintergreen during the tournament’s first two rounds. Players will compete on the Shamokin and Monican nines, which sit at the base of the mountain and are surrounded by dramatic views on all sides. The Stoney Creek course was voted by Golf Digest to be the 34th best resort course in the United States, and it will certainly pair with Spring Creek to form a stellar duo of venues on which to conduct a tournament of this magnitude. Players will play one round each at Spring Creek and Stoney Creek on Thursday and Friday, with the low 60 players and ties making the cut to Saturday’s final round at Spring Creek.

The 2008 season has thus far been nothing short of a success as the EGOLF Tarheel Tour has set records in field sizes and purses throughout the 19-event schedule. By the end of this week’s event, the tour will have paid out over $2.4 million in prize money throughout the season. The TPGG Classic in March featured the largest single-event purse in tour history with $250,000, while this week’s purse of $200,000 will be the second-highest in the EGOLF Tarheel Tour’s seven-year history.

In addition to the Tour’s success, many players have reached dramatic highs in terms of earnings this year as well. At the top of that list is none other than David Robinson, who became the first player in EGOLF Tarheel Tour history to eclipse the $100,000 mark in single-season earnings this year. Robinson has claimed three wins this year and an impressive 12 top-10 finishes in 15 starts. While Robinson certainly sits at the pinnacle of success for this season, the tour also has a total of six players who have won more than $50,000 this year with one week still to go. Kevin Kisner, Ted Brown, Jeff Curl, Andy Bare, Cory Kaufman and Robinson have all gone past the $50,000 mark in earnings and look to continue that success this week.

The Tarheel Tour Championship and all EGOLF Tarheel Tour events are open to the public and free of charge. For more information, please visit the tour’s website at www.tarheeltour.com.
