EGOLF Develops $50,000 Points Race and Increases Purses for 2008

The Tarheel Tour and EGOLF are pleased to announce a season-ending points race that will pay $50,000 in bonuses based upon participation and results in the final six tournaments of 2008 and a $200,000 purse for the season ending tour championship on October 16-17.

In addition, EGOLF and the Tarheel Tour will offer over $4 million in purses and prizes for a 20-tournament schedule in 2009.

The EGOLF Points Race will begin with the Firethorne Open on August 20-22, and is open to all members of the Tarheel Tour. Members will accumulate points over the final six events and position themselves for a share of the $50,000 bonus pool.

The $50,000 EGOLF Points Race bonus pool will be paid to the 10 members of the tour who accumulate the most points (participation points plus bonus points) as follows:

1st: $20,000	6th: $2,500
2nd: $10,000	7th: $2,000
3rd: $5,000	8th: $1,500
4th: $4,000	9th: $1,000
5th: $3,000	10th: $1,000

Points will be awarded for both participation and order of finish in the final six events of 2008. Each member will receive 100 participation points for playing in a tournament. In addition, the top 10 players and ties each week will earn bonus points as follows:

1st: 500	6th: 250
2nd: 450	7th: 200
3rd: 400	8th: 150
4th: 350	9th: 100
5th: 300	10th: 50

All points will be doubled for the EGOLF/Tarheel Tour Championship, October 16-18. All players will receive 200 points for participating in the event. The point breakdown for this event is as follows:

1st: 1000	6th: 500
2nd: 900	7th: 400
3rd: 800	8th: 300
4th: 700	9th: 200
5th: 600	10th: 100

The Tarheel Tour and EGOLF will increase purses in the final four events as follows:

The Charlotte National Open at Charlotte National Golf Club on September 24-26 will feature 100 percent payback of the entry fees into the purse. A field of 144 players will result in a total purse of $130,000 with a winner’s share of $22,000.

The Columbia Open at Columbia Country Club on September 30-October 2 will feature a guaranteed purse of $130,000 with a winner’s share of $22,000.

The Walnut Creek Open at Walnut Creek Country Club in Goldsboro, NC on October 8-10 will feature a guaranteed purse of $150,000 with a winner’s share of $26,000.

The 2008 season and the EGOLF Points Race will conclude at the Tour Championship at Spring Creek Golf Club on October 16-18. Players will be competing for both a $200,000 purse and their share of the $50,000 Points Race bonus pool. The winner of the event will receive $34,000.

Information about the 2009 season will be released in the coming weeks.
