Lake Wylie, SC- 2007 Spring Creek Classic Champion Roberto Castro fired a 6-under-par 66 to take the lead after the second round of the Tarheel Tour’s River Hills Open at River Hills Country Club in Lake Wylie. The former Georgia Tech All-American is at 9-under-par after two rounds and holds a two shot lead over Cullman, AL native Jason Dillard.
A quartet of accomplished players share third place at 6-under par. Augusta, GA resident Emmett Turner jumped up 35 places into a share of third with a 6-under-par 66. The former Augusta State standout is coming off of a tie for 12th at the Southern Open in his first event of the season. In limited action last year on the Tarheel Tour, Turner’s best finish was sixth at the Salisbury Classic. Also making just his second start of the year after coming back from a shoulder injury is Matt Davidson. The former PGA Tour player backed up a first round 70 with a bogey free 4-under-par 68 to reach 6-under for the event. Two-time winner in 2007 Scott Brown and two-time runner-up in 2008 Joel Hendry complete the group at 6-under heading into Friday’s final round.
The final round of the Tarheel Tour’s River Hills Open at River Hills Country Club will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Friday with players going off the 1st and 10th tees. The final group will tee off on #1 at 9:10 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to come out to River Hills at beautiful Lake Wylie on Friday to see the inaugural champion crowned in the River Hills Open. In accordance with all Tarheel Tour events, the River Hills Open is open to the public and free of charge. |
